Another Insightful Video Analysis
I am so lucky to have a coach who is very skilled at the technical part of jumping. He is well-versed with Dartfish technology and can break things down frame-by-frame for skaters.
While we know that part of my issue on the double salchow is the takeoff, my coach also tells me here that my salchow attempts aren’t projecting onto the right trajectory. My blade is turned the wrong way before takeoff (again, the takeoff issue we mentioned before). And then, when I do jump up, I pretty much jump in place rather than jump across the ice.
The video was too long for my coach to send me so he broke it up into two parts.
I just find all this so fascinating and am grateful that I have a knowledgeable coach who can pinpoint exactly what is going wrong so we can laser focus on fixing it.
Both the technology and the analysis are so cool. I definitely will look at skater’s jumps differently now that I have this information. It all happens so fast! It’s amazing that bodies can learn to move with such precision. Again, thanks, Eva, for sharing your lessons with us.
It’s amazing what technology can teach us in this sport. Now I wonder how we ever did without it!
