Just a Hair Short

I’ve been working diligently on landing a fully clean and rotated double salchow. It’s been over a year in the works. Sadly, I still haven’t achieved my goal yet.

However, I am making small improvements on various parts of the jump. My coach has commented that the three-turn, pivot and take-off have improved dramatically. My problem is the (lack of) rotation and the landing. I know that I tend to open up early. This causes me to land short of a fully clean rotation.

One afternoon, I was practicing the jump and decided to start video taping some attempts. Surprisingly, I had one attempt that was just a hair short of being clean. Granted, my blade isn’t pointing backwards for a squeaky clean landing, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Take a look and let me know your thoughts!

Nice, Eva! It takes so much dedication to chip away at it like you are, but you are making progress.
