Judging My First Competition!

My home rink’s annual competition is coming up next week, and the chief referee assigned me as one of the judges for some of the CJS (formerly 6.0) events. I’m excited, nervous, and anxious to sit on the other side of the boards and be one of the judges on the panel. While I’m getting used to judging for tests, judging for competitions is another ballgame.

I’ve also asked to see if I’m able to sit with the tech panel for IJS events so I can shadow them and determine if I ever want to go after a tech specialist appointment. I enjoy the detailed aspect of figure skating and know that I can add value in that role. But do I have what it takes to do this in a live environment under pressure? Who knows? That’s why I’m hoping to listen in and learn from those who do it best.

If you’re a skater at this competition, please come say hi! I’ll be cheering you on!
