Pairs Upright Spin
My pairs partner and I have been working on spins that break away and come back together. These are HARD. He essentially skates a bracket/bracket and has to generate enough rotational energy to pull me into a second spin.
I do think that the female partner has it much easier on this spin. All I do is just hang out and look pretty on my forward outside edge.
Seriously though, this is probably the best one we’ve ever done. We maintained our speed throughout and even gained some speed in the second half of the spin after the breakaway. Yay for progress!
Looks very pretty and elegant!

Thanks so much, Wynne!
The revised program requirements are a huge deal for adult skaters who finally felt seen under the old structure. Curious how the changes to spin combinations will land for skaters coming back after a long break — the loop-loop combo is going to take some adjusting.

Only time will tell!
I really enjoyed reading this post! Skating looks like such a fun way to spend time, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors. Thanks for sharing your skating experience!
This was such a fun skating update! It’s great to see the progress in the spin and how much practice goes into getting these moves right.

Thank you! These side-by-side spins are extremely difficult to synch up. One of us has to count the revolutions out loud so the other can match their rate of rotation and exit the spin at the same time. It’s hard enough spinning on your own, and it’s much more challenging to do it exactly the same as another human!
