2026 Skating Goals

OK – time to officially share my 2026 skating goals. Several of these are repeats from 2025 and years past, and a few are new. Let’s do this!
- Begin Working on Adult Senior Skating Skills. I’m giving myself 2 years to learn and pass these. The goal this year is simply to start working on them. Of course, I still need to pass my Adult Junior skating skills first!
- Test and pass my final Bronze dance and work on Pre-Silver dances. The Ten Fox is the final Bronze dance that I need to test and pass in this level. After I pass that, I will likely move onto the Fourteenstep. I anticipate “camping out” at the Pre-Silver level for a while, so I may not end up testing anything next year. We’ll see!
- Continue to work on my presentation and confidence. Since my Tango program will be in its second season starting in September, the goal is to make this feel more natural. I hope to get a few more competitions under my belt so that this program can get more comfortable.
- Add more spins to my repertoire. Let’s see what fun and exciting new variations or features my spin coach has up her sleeve. Will I be able to do them? Will they be added to my program? Only time will tell.
- Continue to work on (and potentially land) our pairs throw axel. We’ve been working this element in the harness, and I want to eventually get off the harness and land this for real. In order for this to happen, we need to make sure our timing is consistent. Send good vibes!
- Earn my Gold Test Judge appointment. I had hoped to earn this in 2025, but my agreement percentages were not meeting the minimum threshold. I will keep trialing until my numbers improve and then submit my application then. Hopefully I can earn this appointment in 2026 and help our club save on judge costs (transportation, hotel, etc) for in-person test sessions.
If you are a skater, what are your goals for 2026?
