2025 Skating Goals End of Year Review

It’s hard to believe that 2025 is coming to a close. That means it’s time to review how I progressed on my 2025 skating goals. Let’s take a look, shall we?
- Test (and hopefully pass) Adult Junior Skating Skills. Since there are still a few days left in the year, I have time to still make this happen!
- Test and pass my Pre-Bronze (and possibly Bronze) dances. Although I planned on taking these at the Adult 21+ passing standard, I passed all of my Pre-Bronze and 2 of my Bronze dances on the standard track! I have one more Bronze dance to go (Ten Fox) until I complete this level. Hopefully we can knock this out in early 2026.
- Continue to work on my presentation and confidence. A judge told me after one of my competitions that he loved my fierceness on the ice. I want to keep channeling this energy and turn this bullet point into a strength.
- Add more spins to my repertoire. Well, I did this, but just didn’t execute this in competition. Sadly, I got my new spin dashed in both of my competitions. Guess I still need to work on competing new elements under pressure.
- Add a new pairs element. Hmmm, I’m not sure if we actually added anything new this year. We’re still working on getting a correct death spiral and executing the throw axel in the harness.
- Refine my axel. Well, I landed 80% of them in competition last season (which for me, runs from September through April). That is a huge improvement from years past, when just about 2 years ago, I was at a 0% completion rate. Hopefully this number can start to climb in 2026 and beyond!
So, it seems like it’s been another good skating year. I met (and surpassed) some goals and didn’t achieve a few others. But, I am still growing as an athlete and continuing to have fun.
Let’s see what 2026 has to bring!
