Reunited

Last week, my jump coach (who I have weekly Facetime lessons with) drove to my rink to give a full day’s of private lessons to our skaters. He was at our rink last month for a jump seminar, and the skaters got so much out of the day that several of them asked if we could bring him down for a day.
There have been some skaters who have traveled up to see him (he’s ~2 hours away by car). We thought that it would be worthwhile to all chip in and pay for his mileage, hotel, meals, and incidentals.
My skating bestie and, who learn best when we’re together, shared the lesson. We worked on jump basics – alignment landings (a technique that he and Audrey Weisiger subscribe to), rocker/chocktaw walkthroughs (to simulate staying on the outside edges during rotations), and the proper drawback and entries to the toe loop and loop jumps.
It was great to work with my coach in person, as he was able to see/hear things that he normally doesn’t get to experience via Facetime. Both my bestie and I made some good progress in our joint lesson, and that hour went by very quickly!
Hopefully, we can continue to bring my coach back. He has a wealth of information, and these in-person lessons are so worth it!
