Spin Clinic

202 spin clinic

For the third straight year, we invited my dear spin coach, Kim Ryan-Lewis, to teach a clinic at our rink. She has been traveling all over the world and even had the opportunity to serve on the teaching panel for a seminar in Europe with Brian Orser! I’m so lucky to have her on my coaching team.

This year, we had about 22 skaters attend the seminar. We learned from the past two years and tried to keep the groups on the smaller side so skaters could get more one-on-one instruction with Kim.

In the morning, we split up into 3 groups and switched between on-ice edges, spins, and off-ice instruction. During the afternoon, we watched and discussed some videos with leveled spins and then split into two groups to work on the off-ice spin board and yoga.

It was a fun but long day. Although I’ve been working with Kim (via Facetime lessons) since long before COVID, I’ve only met her in person a handful of times. It’s always so nice to give her a real hug and see her smiling face in person.

After the clinic concluded, the adults from our club got together with Kim for dinner and some of us (bestie and coach) enjoyed some ice cream for dessert. 🙂
