Ice is Slippery
Last week before Learn to Skate class, I taught a private lesson to one of my students. I was trying to demonstrate the entry for the backspin using a forward inside edge. I wanted to show her how holding the edge for a long time would not generate enough rotational energy to pull into a backspin. As I was finishing up the edge, down I went.
This fall hurt. Maybe because it was unexpected (it was a simple inside edge!), but it was definitely funny. It warms my heart that so many people came up to me to ask if I was OK. Thankfully, I did not bruise, but it’s a good reminder that ice is slippery! And that even coaches fall sometimes. 🙂
Enjoy the laugh!
