Power Pull Skating Skills element
My coach has been pushing me a lot this year… in a good way. She knows when I get fearful of certain skating skills elements, particularly at speed. However, she continues to encourage me to believe in myself and trust my abilities.
One of the elements that I need to master for the Adult Junior skating skills test is the diagonal power pulls. The entire move is done on one foot for the entire diagonal of the rink, and it alternates between power pulls and rocker/rockers. At some point last year, my coach casually mentioned that this move has resulted in a lot concussions, so that definitely didn’t add to my confidence.
However, I’ve been slowly making some progress on this element. In fact, I was able to successfully make it (somewhat) to the end of the rink on both feet, and without falling.
Yes, I skated this very tentatively and without much power (or confidence), but I got through it. With some additional practice, my goal is to make this move even stronger and quicker so that it comes close to passing standard.
