2025 Skating Goals

It’s almost 2025, which means it’s time to set my 2025 skating goals. I enjoy doing this each year, since it makes me document that I want to do, and it holds me accountable for trying to achieve each item on the list.
Here we go (these are listed in no particular order):
- Test (and hopefully pass) Adult Junior Skating Skills. My hope is to be able to take these virtually and pass by the end of 2025. One can hope.
- Test and pass my Pre-Bronze (and possibly Bronze) dances. I plan on taking these at the Adult 21+ passing standard. Hopefully we can get the Pre-Bronze ones ready in a few weeks, and then I can start working on the Bronze dances soon after that.
- Continue to work on my presentation and confidence. This is a goal that likely will not come off the list. It’s all related to my mental strengthening journey, and as long as my mind is present, my presentation and confidence should follow.
- Add more spins to my repertoire. I’m not sure what spins my coach will have me try next, but I’d love to add more spins to my repertoire and potentially include one in my program. Let’s see what she cooks up…
- Add a new pairs element. Will it be a new spin? A new throw element? Or something else? Who knows?
- Refine my axel. I tend to freak out on this jump during competition, and it usually results in a negative grade of execution. I want to keep tweaking it so it looks effortless (and as a result, I would love for it to get a “0” in grade of execution, meaning that it was textbook correct. Yes, I know I shouldn’t be focused on results, but that would be the outcome of me correctly executing this goal).
Whew – that was a lot! I’m hoping these are all achievable within 12 months. Wish me luck!
