Pairs Throw Jumps

My pairs partner and I have gotten to a groove with our pairs throw jumps. We have a pretty decent sized throw loop, and thankfully, it’s earned us some positive grades of execution in competition. Since it’s so big, we believe it’s double-able. We certainly have the air time for it. As Taylor Swift so eloquently put it, “It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me.”

You see, I am scared to pull in and rotate the double loop jump. I’m afraid that I will elbow my partner and/or get off my rotating axis and fall hard. Has it ever happened? No. So why am I so scared? No idea.

In order to overcome my fear, we asked our skating director to put us in the harness for a lesson. We spent some time working on the throw double loop. Here they are!

Also, just for fun, we also tried a throw axel. This one seems more doable, but it’s messing up my normal axel technique. #skaterproblems

The good news from this lesson is that no one died!!
