Skating Fridays

Back in the Bay

Hello all! I was back in the Bay Area last week and got the wonderful opportunity to take a lesson with Phillip DiGuglielmo, who is Alysa Liu’s former coach. He also happens to be a national technical specialist, so he really knows his stuff.

I asked him to work with me on double toe loops. He took a look at all of my single jumps first and gave me the ultimate compliment – he said that I did not skate like an adult! 😱

We spent some time going over some of the basics of how the double toe worked and then tried a few. Of course, I was nowhere close to landing it, but Phillip said that I should be able to land these soon.

He was such an encouraging and knowledgeable coach, and I am grateful to have learned from him! I am hopeful that I can land this jump some day.
