My coach was helping me learn some difficult spin entries recently, and one of the types she focused on during my lesson was a knee slide. We saw several of those during the US Figure Skating Championships recently, and I was amazed at how effortless they looked.
Guess what? They are HARD. And they are hard on the knees, too! I had legwarmers on, which helped provide a little bit of buffer between my knees and the ice, but my knees are definitely bruised. As you can see from the video, I am having a heck of time getting back up after the slide. Somebody grab my old lady cane!
I hope that I can make this exit a bit smoother and be able to use it in a future program. Looks like I’m going to need to start wearing knee pads again!
