New Salchow Technique

For those of you who have been following my skating journey, you know how I have struggled with the double salchow. It comes and goes, and if I am lucky, I land one about once a year.

My coach asked me to try a new entry/technique that most elite athletes have been using. It’s a two-footed entry and should directly apply to a toe loop. In fact, this is the entry that Brian Orser taught me when I had a private lesson with him several years ago.

This entry is taking some time to get used to, but I think it is showing some promise. My coach likes how it is getting me correctly aligned on my axis and sees how it should (theoretically) be “double-able.”

Only time will tell, I guess.
