Double Toe Loop Exercise
The next jump that I am determined to land is a double toe loop. It’s one of those jumps that skaters have a love/hate relationship with. I was taught this jump incorrectly when I first started skating, so it’s been a process to un-learn bad habits.
Rather than bring the free leg through, I was turning early and executing a “toe waltz” jump, which is a common error on this jump. I’ve gotten a “toe waltz” jump called on some of my earlier competitions and have since corrected it… mostly.
Just for fun, I tried doing this double toe loop exercise from a forward upright spin. What I am noticing is that when I try this exercise, I am reverting back to old habits and not bringing the free leg through. I will need to fix that before I attempt any double toe loops because this would be considered a “toe axel.”
I’ll keep working on it to see if I can make the correction. One day, I hope to land a clean and correct double toe loop!
Cool exercise-that looks like it might be a choreographic move in itself!
