Lift Up Ukraine

Lift Up Ukraine
My talented and amazing coach, who is Ukrainian

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of skating in a fundraiser gala for #LiftUpUkraine. The people of Ukraine are near and dear to our hearts. My coach is Ukrainian, and her family has been in hiding. Our goal was to raise money for the people of Ukraine, including my coach’s family.

This event was an outpouring of love. The owner of our rink donated two hours of ice time for our cause. Several community businesses, skating families and skaters/coaches chipped in to help. We received donations from many local business owners (gift cards, baked goods, etc) and many others used their talents to create beautiful items for sale or for raffle (hair accessories, ribbons, baked goods, quilts, etc).

All in all, we raised over $15,000 for the people of Ukraine.

My pairs partner and I performed our program together and wore the colors of Ukraine for our costumes. Luckily for me, I happened to have a yellow dress from this season’s program. Talk about luck!

I loved seeing the community rally together around this cause and am thrilled that we were able to make an impact to our brothers and sisters across the world.

That’s wonderful! I bought a T-shirt to support the cause with 100% of the proceeds going to help the people of Ukraine. We do what we can.

I hope that her family (and others) stay safe. It breaks my heart that this is happening.
