Baby Flying Sit Spin

Sit spins are my favorite type of spin. I am fortunate enough to have the strength and flexibility to go all the way down to the ice. However, I am not very gifted when it comes to flying spins. I have this problem of either jumping too early or jumping too late. Exhibit A: My flying camel spin (also known as a flying salchow around these parts)

My coach and I have been working on the flying sit spin to see if we can add it to my repertoire. While I can do these off-ice, they are a whole other story on-ice. Again, I have trouble getting the timing right. My leg doesn’t come all the way around and then I am jumping too early.

Even though I’m not anywhere near close to a real flying sit spin, this is my baby version. You gotta start somewhere, right? Maybe one day this will graduate to a real flying sit spin. That would be so cool!

Eva, that looks more mature than a “baby version”–I’d call it a teenager! It will grow up fast!

Oh yay! I still think of it as a baby. Hopefully it will grow up soon! 😁
