Press Lift – Day 2
After all the excitement around the press lift, my pairs partner and I did our research to see if it was a legal element for Adult Silver Pairs. And guess what, guys? It’s NOT!
Apparently, the press lift is considered a Group 4 lift, and we are only allowed lifts from Groups 1 and 2 (those are lifts that are done via the woman’s armpit and waist).
Despite that disappointing fact, we decided that we still want to work on it. Hopefully one day we can get strong enough to test Gold Pairs. Not anytime soon, of course. But, if we did test, we would need one more lift in our program.
We are pretty pleased with ourselves on this lift, especially considering that this is only the second time we’ve tried this on the ice. You’ll see about 5 seconds into the video that I was able to fully extend my arms (you’ll see me elevate higher in the air). My partner will also need to fully extend his arms in order for this element to count.
But hey, not too shabby for a bunch of old people, and for our second attempt ever!
Cool! Looks like a good way to get stronger. Good thing you’re working on it now en route to Gold!
