Silver Pairs Test Video
At long last, here is the video for our Silver Pairs test. Final result?
We passed – and by all 3 judges! We turned in our video on a Friday evening and received our congrats letter from US Figure Skating the following Tuesday evening. Our test papers took a bit longer to receive (turns out our stand-in coach had it in her inbox but didn’t realize she needed to send them to us), but we are thrilled!
One judge gave lots of detailed comments and provided commentary on me, my partner and us as a team. She said that I was graceful (ha!!), had good landings (double ha!) and had good posture (that’s funny – my coach would definitely disagree on this one). As a team, we need to work on our speed, power, and confidence. Also, our unison and jump height need to improve.
All in all, it is great feedback that we can use to improve our skating as a pair. We can only improve from here, right?
We hope to make a few additional tweaks before competing this (at Adult Nationals next year and maybe sometime before that). Maybe at some point, we will attempt Adult Gold Pairs. That test is going to take a while…
Congratulations! You’re so lucky to have not only found a pairs partner, but to find one who is also a clockwise skater. That was a really nice program; you looked like you were enjoying yourself. Congrats again!
Thanks, Melissa! I am very grateful as well!
Eva, you two looked great. I liked the synchronicity and the fact that you both always kept a smile on your face. Extra kudos to not running over the yakking couple in the corner–it’s a shame that they couldn’t clear the rink for this lovely performance. Congrats on your silver success!
Haha – I think that yakking couple was my coach and her student! At least they were out of the way! 😄 We we’re beyond thrilled (and relieved) to have passed this test!
Eva, that was a great program!
It looked like you were a natural out there!
Thank you, Elizabeth!
Wow! You looked great out there together. You made it look smooth and natural, but when I stopped to think about where the blades were or how close your feet got, I admired your bravery!
Thanks, Wynne! 😄
