Withdrawal
My home rink is hosting a skating competition this month. Typically, I have entered into the freestyle event and sometimes the dramatic entertainment event. However, due to life, adulting and COVID, I have not been working on a freestyle program until recently. I didn’t think that I was ready to skate my program.
However, I knew that if the event was held, and I didn’t enter, that I would feel regret. I had a feeling that nobody else would skate in my event. If that was the case, then I would be a single entry, and it would be treated as an exhibition. The other option was to receive a full refund in this situation.
Not surprisingly, I was the only entry in my event. I decided to withdraw from the competition since I would be skating for myself. I asked our competition committee for a refund, which I am applying to another competition next month.
While I am sad that I won’t be competing at our home rink this year, it gives me another month to tweak my program so that I can skate next month. Hopefully others will register so that I have someone to skate with!
Onward!
Fingers crossed that we’ll see a video next month, Eva! It’s a hard time to keep up with skating!

I hope that other skaters join me and skate in my event! If so, I will ask someone to take a video. 😄
