A Real Flying Camel Spin

Prior to switching coaches a few years ago, I thought I had an OK flying camel spin. But, the more I looked at the print left on the ice, the more I realized that I had a flying salchow.

My free leg whipped around too much, and I waited too long to execute the “fly.”

I had a quick lesson on the flying camel and my coach fixed it in less than 5 minutes. We did an exercise on the line that helped my body obtain proper alignment so that I could “fly” at the correct time in the entry.

I’m so excited! This is a real flying camel and the flying salchow is finally gone!

Take a look:

You can think of it as two exciting elements: flying camel AND flying salchow!
