Back to Work

Adult Nationals wrapped up a little while ago, and I am so proud of my friends who competed! While I am sad that I wasn’t able to make the trip, I was able to cheer them on from a distance. Many friends met or surpassed their goals, and I am very excited for them.
With Adult Nationals behind us, that means a new season of adult skating is upon us. My coach and I finally finished choreographing (the first iteration of) my program, and she asked me to run it while she was in the Ukraine visiting family.
A good friend recommend that I start running the programs in chunks first, so I took her advice. My spin coach suggested that I run the second half of my program at the end of a practice, when I am tired. She told me to do this 3 times in a row so that I get used to performing the second half on tired legs. That’s the strategy I’ve been using so far.
In addition to that, when there is time, I will run the first half of my program afterwards. I’m trying to slowly build up the stamina required to do a complete program run-through. Because it’s a been a while since I’ve competed, I need to slowly rebuild my endurance. At the moment, I feel like I am ready to keel over on the ice and take a nap afterwards.
I’m excited to share my new program with you once it’s competition-ready!
Can’t wait to hear how the program develops, Eva! It’s going to be a good year, I hope!

I hope so too! I’m curious to see how this no-competition year for me impacts my overall program execution.
