Double Loop Attempt

It’s been a hot minute since I last attempted a double loop. Something about this jump just freaks me out. It might be because the momentum comes from edge pressure rather than a toe pick. Nevertheless, I am just plain scared of this jump.

However, after trying a few, I managed to catch some on video. Surprisingly, after I reviewed them, the jumps weren’t half bad. Obviously, these are still under-rotated, but they are a good start. I still have 1/2 revolution to go before we can call these clean. But, the good news is that my legs are starting to pull in a little bit tighter and I’m not as loosey-goosey in the air. That’s an improvement from last year, so I’ll take it.

We’ll see if this is a jump I’ll be able to keep working on this year. Either way, it’s fun to try.

That actually looks pretty good, Eva! I would guess that the timing is so different from the other doubles you’ve been working on–but your positions and speed look like they’re on!

The timing is definitely my biggest issue. I am trying too hard to rotate so I lose height. I need to think about doing a huge single jump and then pull in. Hopefully this will improve throughout the year!
