Axel Club
Sometime this spring/summer, the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) announced a new program called the Axel Club. They wanted to recognize skaters who have successfully landed their axel jumps since it is a milestone in a skater’s journey. In addition to skaters who have recently landed this jump, USFSA also wanted to recognize skaters who have landed it 5+ years ago.
In order to apply for the club, the skater had to send a video of themselves successfully landing the jump. In addition, each skater had to provide the name of one witness.
I landed my first axel in the fall of 2007, and I had my friend K serve as my witness. I also sent in a video of a successful axel from about a year ago.
Not too long ago, USFSA sent me this lovely certificate that recognized me as an Emeritus member of the axel club. In addition, they gave me these fun gloves to recognize my achievement.
What a fun recognition program!
That is so nice that they are celebrating in this way! I love the gloves!!!
