Aerial Challenge

aerial challenge

Each year, the Broadmoor World Arena hosts the Aerial Figure Skating Challenge. This is an opportunity for skaters to show off their jumping skills. Judges score skaters on their air time and the overall look of the jump. Typically, this was an event that was reserved for the nation’s top skaters. This year, however, they have opened it up to all skaters, including adults.

Just for fun, I decided to enter. I’ll be registered for the Adult Gold Ladies event. For my required elements, I have a solo jump and a 2-jump combination. For Adult Gold, we are allowed to do all single jumps and up to a double salchow or double toe loop. I’m undecided on which jumps I will execute, but I have to send in a video of both of the elements that are taken in one shot. I need to keep in mind that Grade of Execution will be a factor, so I will need to do a jump that looks good.

I’ll keep you all posted! Is anybody else entering this virtual competition? If so, I want to cheer you on!
