Wheely Cool {Video}
Look! I finally tried on my inline skates! I was hoping to try them out, but it kept raining the entire weekend. We had about a 1-hour period of time when the sun came out, so I laced up my boots and went outside.
The good news is that the boots were the ones I used for the past 4 years on ice. I had my skate tech take off the blades and attach them to my new boots. Then he attached the inline frames to these. So, there was no need to break in the boots.
You can see that I am all padded up. I have knee pads, elbow pads, and a bike helmet. The one thing I didn’t put on were my butt pads. After 5-10 minutes, I was able to slowly move around. My driveway is sloped, and my brain did not like that. Not surprisingly, I tried to stop using an ice skating snowplow stop. Oops. I had to ask Addie to be my crutch and slowly walk me down the driveway so I could try skating in the road.
After the mini practice was done, I was able to glide on one foot and do one crossover. I know there’s a lot left to learn, but at least I didn’t fall!
Oh, and wheels are HEAVY. I’m thankful that I typically skate on ice skating blades. They are so much lighter!
So fun to see you on wheels, Eva! I’m glad you have a daughter-helper around. Hope it’s fun and that you let us know about your progress.

We shall see how much progress I make. Iād prefer to make more progress on the ice, obviously! š
