Beginnings of a New Program

Happy Friday! I’m excited to share that my head coach and I have begun working on my new freestyle program. Who knows when I’ll get to actually perform it, but at least I have a few months before that actually happens.
Coach has been eager to add a lot of difficult steps into my program. She said that last year, these are transitions that I would not have been able to do. Hmm, I wonder why she thinks I can do them this year then? My ice time has been very limited, and obviously there was a 3+ month hiatus as well.
Regardless, I am still excited that she believes in my skating ability. I do have a change edge spiral in this program, and it makes me nervous. Historically, I have not been able to do this element because I have trouble changing edges. I usually use my arms to “swim” like Nemo with his lucky fins. And even with Nemo fins, I still can’t get the edge change right. Sigh.
It’s going to be a challenging and loooong few months. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming…
I think it’s great that your coach wants to push you to the next level–cause it means you can do it! Swim on, Eva!
