Bosu Ball Stretching {Video}
The adult skating community at my rink lovingly calls ourselves the “Bock Squad.” I shared with you all that we have officially adopted the chicken as our spirit animal. We tell each other to “throw the chicken” at competitions and often times will make awkward squawking noises. It loosens us up and makes each one of us laugh.
During the stay-at-home orders, the Bock Squad has been unable to practice on the ice. We did make attempts to stretch together (while maintaining 6 feet of distance between us, of course). And some of us had inline skates or rollerblades so we got together to skate in a parking lot. Hence, we temporarily renamed ourselves the Lot Squad.
Sadly, I was not one of the lucky few with inline skates or rollerblades. Instead, I brought my spinner and practiced that while I watched them. I would also practice my off-ice jumps as well.
On this particular day, I was able to practice some balance exercises with a Bosu ball that we borrowed from my ballet instructor. I hadn’t been on a Bosu ball since I tore my meniscus many years ago and used it for rehab.
I have noticed that my spiral is getting better after the at-home stretching. Let’s hope it continues to improve until we get back on the ice!
Whoa, Eva, I am so impressed. What balance and control you have! I can barely stand on those things.

When I tore my meniscus a few years ago, a lot of my physical therapy was on that Bosu ball. It was a necessary evil to strengthen my knee. I guess I had enough muscle memory to be able to stand on it again!
