Another Double Toe Loop Attempt

I’m still struggling with this jump. Typically, my air time is enough to execute a double jump, but my body rotates too slowly. I’m working with my coach to figure out how I can increase my rate of rotation. Not going to lie – it’s been hard. I feel like we’ve tried every trick in the book, but nothing is clicking with my mind/body.

Honestly, part of it might be a mental fear as well.

Regardless, here is another attempt.

Eva, have you tried working on this off the ice? One of the coaches at our rink puts his skaters through regular rotation drills using an off-ice harness. They really learn to spin in a tight position in the air (not a skill most of us do naturally). Honestly, it looks like fun, but I’m not sure I want to try it. I know you can spin fast, though so thought it might work for you.

I have tried off ice. We don’t have an off ice harness, but I have no problems when doing that off ice exercises (or even the on ice ones). When it’s time to apply the exercises into the jump, my mind freaks out and I can’t transfer anything! It’s so frustrating!
