Pairs Death Spiral Attempt
My pairs partner and I have not had much of an opportunity to practice this year. Between life and everyday adulting, our time together has been very limited.
We have probably practiced less than 10 times together all year.
Despite the minimal ice time together, we have made some amazing strides. Our pairs spin, which we have lovingly dubbed the “Death Grip,” is actually centered most of the time. Our throw waltz is probably our strongest element. And the death spiral has actually improved too.
We used to half jokingly refer to the death spiral as a “spiral with some sniffles” because it wasn’t at “death” level yet. Looking at this video, it looks like we are approaching the “need to call in sick from work” level.
Hopefully, after we get more ice time, we can get this element a lot lower and looking more like a real death spiral. Until then, we’ll keep calling in sick. LOL.
The Death Grip–I love it! Looks like you’re both having a blast out there. Hope you get together more this coming season.

Me too – the goal is to skate together at adult nationals. 🙂
Very cool that you still progressing in pairs despite all the challenges of adulting and life!

It’s funny – we find that the less we practice together, the better we get!!
