Double Toe Loop Attempt

Now that I have my first competition of the season behind me, it’s time again to train new elements. My jump coach has me starting exercises for double toe loops. Just for fun, I’ve tried a few on my own.

Yes, they are still severely under-rotated. My flight time is clocking in around 0.33, which isn’t nearly enough for my body to fully rotate. I will need to get more height and flight time in order to get the full rotation for a proper jump.

However, I’m still in the beginning stages of working on this jump, so this is actually pretty promising. My legs are crossed, and I am taking off with my heel flexed (and taking off the heel).

Honestly, this jump feels easier than the salchow. My skating mentor told me that skaters typically fall into one of two camps – they’re either salchow people or toe loop people. I think I’m going to end up in the latter camp.

Hopefully I will land this cleanly soon!
