Sit Spin Challenge
For those of you who know me in real life, you’ll know that I can be a bit shy. The same goes for me when I’m online. I’m not a regular social media contributor (other than this little blog). Occasionally, I will look at friends’ social media handles to see what they’re up to. But otherwise, I like to stay fairly quiet in my corner.
I noticed that Olympic Gold Medalist Brian Boitano recently posted a spin challenge on one of his social accounts. He asked folks how many revolutions they could get in a sit spin. Brian mentioned that the goal was 30. Well, you know where this is going. I had to try the challenge!
The sit spin is my strongest spin. On a given skating session, you’ll see me practicing different variations. On this day, however, I only worked on a basic sit spin. I aimed for 30 and came up short every time. The closest I could get was 27:
I don’t think I’ve ever gotten past 27 revolutions before, so this has been my maximum for a while. But considering that 1) I’m old, and 2) I’m still dealing with asthmatic bronchitis, I’d call this a win. I did post this video and tagged Brian, but who knows if he’ll actually see it.
Hey Brian – if you’re listening/reading, #AdultsSkateToo!!
That is still amazing! Beautiful spin technique. Hope you get over the asthmatic bronchitis soon. You’re having a rough year.

Thanks, Melissa! Just went in for me checkup today and while my lungs were found to be totally normal, I am still having breathing problems. It’s so frustrating!! And I compete tomorrow. Ugh!
Good luck, Eva–the sit spin is really great. Woohoo! That’s an impressive spin! Brian, pay attention!

I hope Brian sees it but I’m not counting on it!
